With conditions varying throughout the weekend at Mountain Creek Bike Park in New Jersey, Mother Nature settled on hot and humid for race day. The result was perfect downhill track conditions which produced a new level of speed that riders had not experienced in the days prior at the 2019 Pro GRT Spring National. The Spring National was the third of four Pro GRT races in 2019.
The World Cup DH season is on a six-week break, so the classic East Coast venue of Mountain Creek was a perfect primer for those Elite competitors not already camped out in Fort William, Scotland, site of the second World Cup of 2019 set to take place on June 2. Dakotah Norton and Caroline Washam claimed the top spots in the Elite categories on Sunday with amateur classes stacked up. Aaron Gwin placed 2nd in seeding on Saturday, but went home early with a reported ankle injury. A Vital commenter has noted that the injury may be due to a crank breaking after landing a big jump. Details are not confirmed.
Enjoy some downhill action from the track as #USDH keeps on truckin'. The final race of the 2019 Pro GRT calendar takes place in Tamarack, Idaho, June 14-16. -Jack Rice
