Fresh Brain-Saving Designs from MIPS

Reducing rotational forces to your head and neck since day one.

What’s new from MIPS in 2018? Well, they’ve got a few updates to their existing helmet technologies as well as some additional new designs that will likely make their way into a helmet you’ll likely own in the future.

MIPS C2 System Updates

For starters, the brand’s original C2 design will get a more slippery coating for 2018, reducing the force required to get the helmet in motion. Those that have pulled their hair with a MIPS helmet will be pleased to know that a elastomer shape will help keep it from doing so.

MIPS E2 System

Next up is the E2, which is a new product from MIPS that can be added it to just about any helmet without the need for recertification or shell modifications. It features a plastic foil sewn into a flexible fabric sleeve liner.

MIPS A1 System

Also new from MIPS is the A1, which will find its way into lightweight road and mountain bike helmets. This is a very low-profile design which incorporates a low-friction layer between two layers of fabric. The pads are velcroed to the outside of the MIPS layer where they can give 10 to 15mm of rotational movement in the event of a crash.
