Mitch Chubey is a sleeper. He's no slouch on the slopestyle course and all of his competitors know it. Ready to take a beating, but ready to take the podium, Chubey is hungry and willing to put in time to get his goals accomplished. This master of the truckdriver knocks out his Fast Five.
What was the highlight of your 2011 season?
There are a lot of highlights; UDUG, Jump Ship, Crankworx, District Ride. Nearly taking home a massive sword from Claymore keeps replaying in my mind, over and over.
Are you heading south for any winter time trips or are you staying in the Great White North, eh?
It tried to snow today, first day back from San Fran...depressing. When my bottle of Vitamin D is empty I'm sure I'll seek real sun somewhere. My old boss once told me, "There is no such thing as bad weather, just people who have bad rain gear and can't suck it up." I have lots to start and finish building this winter. You will find me out lurking in the woods a lot, true Boyko style, haha. I have scouted a half dozen features I want to build out in the wood to shoot and I have a new training ground that is coming along great.
What's one thing about your bike setup that you're really particular about?
Does everything count? I spend a ton of time maintaining my bikes. I do not let other people work on my bikes. They only thing I will not do my self is service the rear shock. I let Fox do that.
If you could have one do-over in life, what would it be?
I don't live life thinking about the past, I let things go really quickly. It's not healthy to keep things bottled up. I'm sure there are things that I would like to alter, but life has a really funny way of always working its self out some how. Off the top my head, I would have done a flip table rather than a flip whip at Claymore this year.
What's the scariest thing you have ever done on your bike?
I'm not sure, crossing the street in New York?
