Here is what is in store for 2018:
Downhill Southeast enters its third season featuring the region's premier gravity race series.
For 2018, the Downhill Southeast Series expands to include two new venues with Massanutten and Beech Mountain Resort. These Ski Resorts bring a new dynamic to the series along with long standing venues TTC and Windrock.
We’re excited to try something new by consolidating the entire weekend schedule into one day of practice and racing at the shuttle access venues. For both TTC and Windrock, riders will get 7 hours of open practice followed by a late afternoon race start on the Saturday. These venues will bring in extra uplift vehicles to accommodate the open practice, ensuring riders many runs down the race course before their race run. Once the racing is wrapped up, podiums will happen immediately followed by music and festivities in the pits.
The chairlift access venues will stick to a traditional, Saturday practice, Sunday race schedule.
We’re also excited to offer an “enduro” category, for single crown bikes at every Downhill Southeast round.
“ I’m stoked to see the DHSE series grow into a recognized race series. As we enter the third year,, I’m really impressed with the talented young riders coming out of the Southeast. It’s awesome to see the positive effects the DHSE races have on the local scene.” – Neko Mulally
The Downhill Southeast crew is also running the Windrock Pro GRT, The Southeast Triple Crown Enduro Series, and a national level Enduro event at Windrock. Stay tuned for more info on that...
We owe a huge thank you to WorldWide Cyclery for supporting our events from the beginning and offering awesome prizing for the amateur categories.
If you've forgotten just how much fun these races are, or need a little extra motivation to eke out those last few Watts on the trainer at the gym, here are the links to the first round of the DHSE series in 2017 and the Windrock Pro (1) GRT from 2017 (2) - two links to Day 1 and 2 ; plus a few photos pull from those events just for fun:
