Clash of the Titans - Megavalanche 2012

Glacier mass-start - unleashing the madness!

Clash of the Titans

Last July Italian video maker Gianluca Ricceri followed Jérome Clementz (2010 Megavalanche winner) and Rémy Absalon (2011 Megavalanche winner) during the whole week that eventually led to THE race of the year, the Megavalanche 2012. This edit provides a good idea of what the whole Mega adventure is all about, from the preparations via the qualifications to the big final.

About the Megavalanche

A race that does not need much of an introduction, the grueling Megavalanche in l'Alpe d'Huez is a legend in its own right, a mass start downhill marathon, starting from the Pic Blanc glacier 3.300 meters above sea level. About 2.000 riders take part each year in July in l'Alpe d'Huez.

More than 30 nationalities are represented. The French put in a typically strong performance, with Remy Absalon the overall winner, and 6 out of the top 7 riders being French (Dan Atherton proudly flew the flag for Britain on the podium after a superb 3rd place performance).

About Bluegrass

The origin of the legend of the Bluegrass Eagle has been lost in the passage of time. Possessing supernatural powers, it could transform its plumage into an impenetrable carapace. Its spirit, noble and free, has inspired our range of protective gear.

About the Bluegrass video production

The Bluegrass video production series tells an inspiring story about dedicated individuals and teams whom with passion and energy actively participate in the development of the Bluegrass products through the entire racing season. But it is not just about racing, it is about people and culture. In short it perfectly mirrors the soul of the Bluegrass Eagle.
