BOX Components were showing off their downhill and trail drivetrain offerings at Eurobike, one of the only real alternatives to SRAM or Shimano in the mountain bike space.
BOX One 7-Speed Downhill Drivetrain
The new BOX downhill drivetrain uses a compact 7-speed 11-24 tooth cassette that works with 11-speed spacing on a Shimano-style cassette body. The drivetrain features a very short cage rear derailleur for extra clearance when going through the rough stuff. The shifter is a dual-lever design, and the system is compatible with BOX’s new chains including the Hexlab, BOX One, and BOX Two 11-speed chains. The chains feature robust inner and outer plates and forged concave pins for longer lifespan.
BOX Two 11-Speed Drivetrain
BOX is also excited to release a more affordable version of their 11-speed mountain bike drivetrain. They’ve made a number of changes to the BOX One system to bring the price point down while maintaining the same level of performance. One such change is the use of forged bits in the rear derailleur. On the shifter side, the BOX Two drivetrain uses a dual-direction shifter with two levers. It’s possible to downshift using your thumb or your forefinger, and the system provides up to four upshifts in one throw. 2018 drivetrains feature more tension in the clutch and the system is paired with an 11-46 tooth cassette.
