I raced this bike a few seasons back. Enjoyed it a lot, but really haven’t ridden downhill since. I’ve been on my Merida OneSixty and a Scott Ransom the previous 2 years but I really wanted something stupid and fun for shuttle days. So I built up my old frame. A few mates and I thought it would be funny to make it into a mullet bike, but the worry was the front wheel hitting the frame at full compression. So my theory (with 0 research) would be to compensate the awful geometry a 200mm fork with a 29” wheel created, would be to reduce it to 180mm, which would effectively bring the geometry closer to where we started and also reduce the risk of the the tyre hitting the frame.
I went really budget with this build, so we’ve got microshift 10 speed powering this thing.
COVID made it hard to find brakes (and I’m not a fan of buying used) so I decided to give the TRP slate 4’s a run.
Overall, it rides great.
