Hi guys, I am from New Zealand and recently bought a Transition Patrol NX build 2018. After a hand full of rides I discovered quite some paint chips (including rough paint job round the bearings / pivot points). I only did gentle rides, because I needed to get to know the bike first (yes I know I am a bit of a wuss). I notified the shop owner, Transition importer in NZ including the Transition headquarters in Bellingham (they acknowledged the paint failure(s) - according them its a possible factory error?!). The NZ importer decided to replace the frame (apparently TR refused to replace, importer did this on his own behalf). I now have a new frame. After 1 ride i discovered a few marks / chips again. I might be over fussy, but I do think it's very awkward. I never experienced those problems with my previous bikes. I paid a good amount (5K NZD). Had some big doubts because of specs (NX, Level T, RS Yari, alloy + bike is very heavy), but sales man convinced me of the durability of the frame, burly-ness, switching parts in the future etc.), and Vital MTB's reviews where raving. Are any of you familiar with these paint problems as well?? I will post some photo's from my new frame asap.
