General Info
2023 Whyte E-160 with some choice upgrades and all my parts. This bike is mostly used for exploring new trails and safely carrying my camera kit uphill and down sketchy trails on shoot days so it's built tough and dependable. Who needs to care about weight anyway when you have 85nm of torque and 750wh of battery.
I got a great deal on the bike thanks to ACE Bicycles in Guildford who also upgraded to GX Transmission for me straight out of the box. I'm on the edge of M and L sizing so I went for the medium to give me a bit more room to throw the added ebike weight around. The Burgtec parts were the other out-of-the-box upgrade to match my acoustic bikes and put me in a more comfortable position with the longer stem and high-rise bars.
Frame protection came from HKT products which I work with and have certainly helped save some rock/crash damage already. Bonus points to the white contour design adding a bit of interest to the otherwise stealthy black frame.
Living in the UK Mudhuggers are a permanent feature on my bikes so the long EVO fender went straight on - this one is actually the original 'hugger from the launch video I filmed 4 years ago and has been in constant use since.
Peaty's are another client of mine and this bike often features on their web and socials so it's fully decked out in their grips, valves, sealant lubes etc. Thankfully that means this bike gets a lot of attention and is regularly cleaned, lubed and topped up with sealant since ebikes like to chew through parts, especially if you don't keep up with maintenance.
Schwalbe tyres are a personal favourite and the Magic Mary, Big Betty combo is my go-to for enduro-style riding. I'm not a big fan of inserts and historically don't run them on any of my bikes but this bike is so fast and capable (and heavy) that I've got a set of Rimpact inserts on order to try to get the pressures back down without burping.
The last special bits are the 3d printed bottle mount adjuster so I can fit a small Fidlock bottle in the frame with the piggyback shock and the remote relocator. The guys at Ace like to run their remotes by the stem to avoid crash damage since the bike is stuck in emtb and left there for most rides. They DIY their mounts but I found this one online which looks a bit neater and makes the walk function useable for when I run out of talent on some of the awkward rocky climbs in the peaks.
