15.2kg. a bit of a porker :-)
but i loved the chrome finish and it rides and climbs amazingly well. the geometry makes all the difference.
carbon frame carbon cranks and higher end cockpit / saddle, and you can probably bring this to 13 easily i recon.

i have to say the most amazing feature are the new XT hubs, I don t know what shimano was all about with the scylence hubs on XTR, but these are remarkable: a low speed the freewheel clicks as per usual although it is a bit more like a iight buzzing, as soon as the speed increases, the hub goes silent.... not sure how they do it, but it certainly is a cheaper and lighter way to get a silent hub on the trail than buying an Onyx one....

Where does the weight come from, what do you think (because from the spec, not sure if it's the wheels or the frame) ? I'm currently (as you were) on a 2015 model, which with lower spec is probably 1kg lighter from your 29er version (with water bottle and spare tire and what not).
I've learned that the geometry is everything, except when you have 2000-3000ft ascent in front of you. Then you feel everything that is heavy on the bike

Would like to hear your opinion on 2015/2016 vs 2020 29er comparison. Position on bike, climbing and descending...

Looks like it comes from the frame. XT 29 wheelset is listed on the Shimano website at around 1930g which is reasonable. The steep seat tube angle on the 29 is a real game changer on the climbs compared to the the 27.5 generation.

Thanks. Loving the new 12speed xt. Amazingly smooth under power and the hubs are near silent. I still need to dial the supensions but the bike is a massive step fwrd compared to my 2016 reign.
