Additional Info

Orbea was pretty quiet when they updated their Oiz frame to be one of the lightest full suspension frames in the world at 1740g (with shock). So when I found an Orbea Oiz M Pro TR Large in stock, I bought it that day.

Thanks to Orbea’s amazing OMX frame, I had the perfect foundation to build a lightweight downcountry bike. I added some customs components like RockShox new SID Ultimate fork, full XTR drivetrain, MAGURA MT8 SL brakes, Cannondale Hollowgram + Stages Power meter, OneUp V2 120mm Dropper w/ Ti hardware, and Specifix 25i carbon wheels (only 1283g!!!)

I was really impressed with the build and price point that Orbea offers for this bike, but I switched out some parts to build a lighter weight XC race bike that I could rally on the weekends. With 120 front + rear travel, 120mm dropper, power meter, and 3-position squid lock, I think I built the perfect bike for that.

The total build in XC mode, Schwalbe Racing Ray + Thunder Burt tires, no pedals, no cages; but still with SID, dropper, power meter, 180mm rotor, 760mm bars the bike weighed in at 20.5lbs!

Even with stouter tires, pedals, cages, tool, tire plugs, and chain breaker; the bike comes in at 22.25lbs.

For how light this bike is I thought it might feel fragile, but it is rock solid and has loved the rock gardens I have bombed through, and I am shocked how easy it is to jump and pop over stuff. Way more capable than any XC bike I have ever heard of.

But at the same time, when you get on the throttle it has such fast acceleration, with its light wheels, that it explodes out of corners and up hills. Lastly, it’s a pleasure to ride on rough climbs thanks to its 3-position lockout, allowing fast and comfortable ascents.

This bike is awesome!!
