By no means a replica. More of an homage to Sam Hill and the days of smaller bikes and rougher tracks. A rider that changed the way people rode bikes, and a bike that changed the way bikes were designed. I repainted, replaced bearings, and built with some different touches to make it what I always wanted. Still some slight changes to be made here and there eventually. But its ripping for now! Was my dream bike for ages and still is. Now to just be fast like Sam!

Closest color to Sam Hill’s Ironhorse I’ve seen is the Kawasaki candy lime green. There is a thread on ridemonkey with more specifics and info on the color. I did my best to match without breaking the bank and I used Tamiya TS-52. Closest colored aerosol I myself could find. And it really lays on nice and does all the right things in the sun.

39.3 lbs as it sits, with dh tubes and heavy cranks. Maybe tubeless or some lighter tubes eventually. Gravity light cranks for sure in the future.

I remember there was a midyear running change in the Sundays around 2006 to help them fit Fox DHX shocks. The bike was originally designed around 5th Element shocks which were hot garbage, so there was a mad scramble to switch over to the DHX when it came out. I don't know about the BETD link specifically, but I'm guessing this was either the vendor who supplied the midyear update to Iron Horse or this was an aftermarket upgrade for people with the older frame. Funny enough, Sam and the rest of the MadCatz team were on 5th elements for the first few years, but they tore all the guts out and ran a simple traditional shimstack instead of the position sensitive damper.

More importantly, sweet old Sunday. Still such a great looking bike.

The du link was shite it was the week link for the bike would last long before play ,the later Sunday’s that wasn’t made in USA but tiawan was even worse so if you had du link u wanna sort it and get betd no matter wat shock u run .iron horse only good bike was the first Sunday’s nothing else was good just cheap crap and still now
