Lowcost do-it-all - Ghost Riot EN 1
Parts
General Info
First full-sus after 10yrs on hardtails. Riding type spans from DH to downcountry, one bike does it all, chose the Riot because I think it has the best geometry of any non-custom made (or non-geometron) bike, can fit a big bottle and the price point is very good.
Purchased as a complete bike, took the original parts off and fitted my self built wheels from my old Ragley hardtail, with custom made adapters for boost spacing and a re-dish, 11sp Deore drivetrain with 11-51 cassette (way better than the Sram 12sp the bike came with), trusty Zee brakes and a taller bar. Bar is actually still too low cause the stack is ridiculous and I have a Spank Spoon 800x75mm coming to fix that.
Got my OneUp EDC tool kit in the steerer and EDC pump under the cheapo steel bottlecage, everything else on the bike is stock and after selling some of the stock parts I am less than 2300€ into this rig.
The bike is incredibly fast even with the basic suspension and mediocre rider on it LOL, climbs like a goat (infinite grip for tech climbs) and is super nimble despite the long wheelbase, only downsides: it’s a real dog on flat tarmac (as to be expected), stack is as said very low, and the setback dropper has a lot of stickiness and lateral play but leaves no better options unless you like a very forward pedaling position (which I don’t cause it becomes very uncomfortable during long pedaling rides on mellow grades). Coming from a 420mm reach hardtail I got a size M fearing it would feel like a train but in hindsight I could have got the L, oh well, next bike will be longer. Weight is approximate as I don’t really care about weighting it, prefer stout parts over light ones anyways.
