Orbea Found in the Wild 2
Parts
General Info
E-Bikes are not going anywhere anytime soon, so I am jumping on for the Wild ride! After spending time with friends with E-Bikes it was time to put my jealousy to rest and get on the battery train. Having the Orbea Rallon, it was an easy choice to go with the new Wild FS from Orbea. Basically, with the Wild FS you are getting a Rallon with a BOSCH Performance CX Cruise (20mph) motor and 625Wh Powertube.
My first upgrade that I want to point out are the HiFi Hootenanny 30mm wheels. Built with Sapim e-bike specific spokes, these wheels are lighter than the DT-Swiss but still able to handle the weight of the bike.
Now for what I like and don't like plus changes that I have made. First, what I like:
- Geo, a big bike for big steep trails. With a slack HT, low BB, and stable wheel base this thing tracks. It helps that is has a heavy battery to keep it glued. However, this bike still pops and doesn't hesitate to get playful.
- BOSCH Motor - new updated motor from BOSCH makes this bike reliable. If it had the Shimano I probably would have passed.
- Overall Build Specs - E-Bikes are not cheap and while I don't love everything part of the off the floor M10, it is competitive with others on the market.
_______
Now for the could do better:
- BOSCH - could you please fix the rubber shield over the charger port! I wish Orbea would have designed their own hard plastic insert.
- SLX Trigger and Sun Race Cassette - The SLX trigger catches and why Sun Race? After having shifting issues I found that the Sun Race needed to be shimmed in the back, but I took it off and replaced it with Sram 1230, shifts much better now, even with the trigger catching.
- Volume Spacers - Out of the box I found that I had to put in a 30cc spacer in the rear and add a 10cc to the fork. If you want the bike to ride like a couch than you might only want to add in 10cc for the rear, but I found 30cc to be a sweet spot.
________
Now for the suggestions:
- Tires - It came with the EX0+ but you do have options for Assegai DD. Can we just make that a standard and get ride of the EXO+ or make the Minion DHF and DHR DD.
- Trigger - I will probably buy a XT trigger for better shift performance.
________
Overall, I am really excited to put more miles on the bike and explore our local trails without having to shuttle the car around. Riding up hill has never been so fun!
