This past weekend was Northstar’s first downhill race of the season and what a race it was. Throughout the weekend the lower chutes of the track became blown up more and more with each hour, and paired with winter’s still prevalent course re-shaping, the easiest parts became a challenge for even the best riders.
After a rough morning of practice, THR's Owen O'Malley put together a strong run for 4th in Junior Expert.THR's Austin Tognetti blasting through the lower Dogbone chunder in his first CAT 1 race.
The CAT 1 and Pro racers rode Dogbone while CAT 3 and CAT 2 riders Speed Control to Pho Dogg, but all 131 racers eventually had the make it to the Daytona berms. Five loose corners later, riders jumped the stadium jump and then were into the last sprint before the step down into the finish line.
THR's Ashton Smith jumping into the finish arena on his first ever Pro race.
At the end of the day Ryan Condrashoff held the fastest time with a 2:25.94, landing him on top of the podium for Pro Men.
Ryan Condrashoff: 2.25:94
Tim Krentz: 2:29.79
Parker Robinson: 2:31.08
The woman, the myth, the legend: Adrienne Evans fought her way down a rough course landing her ontop of the Women’s Pro podium, followed by Shanna Carlen. These two women were the only 2 women Pro riders, and I’m sure they’d like some more competition, so ladies come on out! An empty CAT 1 women’s was also open for some more women talent!
Adrienne Evans: 4:17.47
Shanna Carlen: 4:43.20
The CAT 1 Jr. Expert Class had some fast times, and should see some juniors moving up to Pro in the coming years.
Matt Brady: 2:39.60
Dillon Santos: 2:42.73
Hudson Tognetti: 2:46.92
The next Northstar downhill race will be held June 29th on Boondocks. We hope to see everyone out there for more racing fun!
