"SET" - Swiss Enduro Team by GIANT" - fresh from Switzerland:
From first discussions in autumn last year to re-naming and re-founding the team with a mainly new setup took just a few months. The former and long-term GIANT SWISS TEAM will from now on be „ Swiss Enduro Team“ by GIANT.
Originally the team was founded as UCI cross-country team in 2006 and run by Roland Abächerli and Dano Maurer from the Swiss GIANT/LIV bicycles importer „Komenda AG“. In the last years, there has been a transition to the gravity side of racing.
Three riders are on board for 2022:
While Robin (men) and Lars (U21) will go for the full EWS calendar, Mike will focus on national & continental races. His broad experience will be very helpful for the two young guns.
Their bike of choice is the actual GIANT reign enduro bike, fully equipped with SR Suntour suspension with the DUROLUX 36 forks and TRIAIR2 shocks.
The idea behind the team is to show that Swiss racing cyclists can not only be successful in cross-country or racing bikes.
It is based on a 4-year plan to win Swiss national titles, show top results at the EWS and develop with a professional attitude towards the UCI Enduro World Championships 2025 in Leukerbad, Switzerland.
The team has been registered as official "EWS Development Team" in order to show the serious approach from day one.
Main partner for 2022 stays KOMENDA AG with their brands GIANT, BLUEGRASS and SCHWALBE which they import to Switzerland. The additional support comes from LEZYNE, SRAM brakes & drivetrain, FIDLOCK, NEWMEN wheels & cockpit plus help from BLUB lube, SINTER brakepads, NORTWAVE shoes, SMITHOPTICS goggles and WINFORCE Swiss sports nutrition.
Riders will be dressed in FOX clothes as in the past.
Additional helping hand will be team mechanic Swen Toni Kaelin.
