Women’s MTB Tour to Utilize New Indoor Bike Park, First-of-Its-Kind in Pacific Northwest

Sugar Showdown to host dirt jump clinic and competition in Burlington, Washington

Seattle, Washington—Sweetlines, the women-focused, woman-led mountain bike coaching service today announced a new stop in Burlington, Washington, on May 9-10, 2014 as part of their Sugar Showdown mountain bike tour. The Sugar Showdown will bring one day of mountain bike coaching and one day of competition to the new Burlington Bike Park, the only facility of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, featuring indoor dirt jumps and 40,000 square feet of indoor riding space.

Women riders with some previous jumping experience are invited to attend the event. On Friday, event host Kat Sweet of Sweetlines and her crew of pro riders and ICP-certified women coaches will lead intermediate and advanced groups through pumping and jumping skills as part of their “ridestyle” approach, a type of mountain biking they promote that combines slopestyle with freeride, dirt jumping and park riding.

“We are stoked to be able to coach and ride with women in this amazing new bike park,” said Sweet. “It’s so great to have an indoor venue when the weather is tough and the ladies want to shred! Plus it’s pretty close for our Canadian sisters to come down, building our North American community.”

On Saturday, the competition side of the event will kick off in a jump jam format. Judging will be based on form and style for amateurs, and tricks will be added to the criteria for pro categories. Event sponsors have provided tons of prizes.
