strong bike handling skills work better for me than riding the stickiest, burliest casing tire I can find

It must be nice to live at a place where poor tire choice doesn't matter.
Rest of the build is excellent however...

When I travel to wetter climates such as the PNW I run different tires. DHR/Assegai is my go to for aggressive riding but seeing as Americans likely won’t be allowed into Canada this year, I likely won’t be swinging a trip to Bellingham either...and most of my riding will be on dry rocky terrain, this combo rolls well and has enough grip even in the steeps.

I wasn't trying to poke at your decisions at all. I am genuinely amazed at non 3C compound (Maxxterra or maxxgrip ) goes on a bike this calibre.
In BC, you'd wreck immediately on any technical trail.

hey thanks! I've only got one ride on it and then we got a big spring dump of snow. Heading to the desert this weekend to give it a proper go. Shock tune is dialed and I've got a bit of tinkering to do with the fork but so far I'm digging the ZEB. It holds a line super confidently.
