Did I buy into the downcountry hype? Damn right. Considering most of where I live is unbelievably flat, couldn't imagine a more suitable bike. Sure an epic evo might be a better bike but this is the first 100% ground up custom build I've ever done and couldn't be happier about it. Still need to get a weight on it, but should be in the 27lb range.

I've ridden long-travel bikes my whole MTB life and unexpectedly had more fun than ever on a short-travel XC bike. The downcountry hype, I dare say, is real.

Man, I'm getting too old to try to hit sketchy shit at 110% so I sold my Meta AM and downsized. Short travel pays dividends now on the "all day, goofin around in the woods" and has just enough forgiveness for me to take to some of my favorite actual mountain spots and have just as much or more fun.
