Was there a specific fox float x2 you got? I've tried fitting one and it was really tight against the tube.

yes it does
Do you have the same frame? 2017 version? the old one is a bit different I think (no "flip chip" for lower and slacker frame, and may be not really the same dimension for the tube?)

I have a 2017 as well with low and lower. The shock so tight into frame can't get a single piece of A4 past it. I love the bike it's so much fun. Apart from trying to update the shock
