José "Zé" Manel Borges takes 2nd in EWS #3

Racing at home in Madeira, Miranda racers show how the Portuguese do enduro with 3 podium finishes.

The 2019 Enduro World Series traveled to the Portuguese island of Madeira, which is well-know among the gravity crowd as a bucket list destination to earn bragging rights. The Miranda Racing Team showed up en force to defend its position in the team rankings as well as put a trio of riders on the podium.

José "Zé" Manel Borges took to the famous slopes of Madeira with the podium firmly in his crosshairs. Borges kept it consistent throughout all eight stages in which he piled up four 3rd places, and two 2nd places to neutralize a 5th place in Stage 4 and a 10th place in Stage 3. In the end, mere seconds separated Borges from 1st place Martin Maes (GT Factory Racing).His results in Round 3 of the EWS put him in 8th place in the series rankings before heading into Round 4 in Val di Fassa, Italy at the end of June.

Karim Amour swaps wins with Cédric Ravenel to clinch 2nd in the Men's Master Category

Karim Amour had his work cut out for him this past weekend when fellow countryman and Olympian, Cédric Ravenel, surprised fans by showing up to his first EWS race of this season. Ravenel was no match for Amour and vice versa as the two racers swapped stage wins with neither of them doing worse than 2nd place throughout all eight stages. In the end it was Ravenel who edged out Amour to take the overall victory, but Amour's results plus his consistent performance in the series so far, allowed him to comfortably hold onto his series lead.

Tiago Ladeira crosses over to enduro to end up 5th

This weekend also saw Miranda Factory Team downhill racer, Tiago Ladeira, drop in on enduro, which shares some of the same demands required by downhill racing. Racing on home turf with the support of the Miranda Racing Team behind him, Ladeira landed in 5th place overall in the Men's U21 category.

The next round of the 2019 Enduro World Series will take place starting June 29 in Val di Fassa, Italy.
