Dope! with the 29 making it a bit more slack, I bet pushing the seat further forward would help get the pedaling position a little better.. nicely done

Come ride Laguna with me and let's see how long you last. Anytime friends. Most people that ride Laguna on regular basis runs 28 front if they have 11 speed. I rode 11 speed for many years and now that I'm 53, I enjoy the technology and friendliness of 12 speed. I can also climb better and have faster downhill speed with 12 speed as I run a 32 front. Bring it anytime! Also 2x10 has plenty of range, but who the hell wants a bike with 2x10 these days? Always think about resale value as I buy a new bike every year.

brah, the # of cogs on your cassette doesn't dictate the gear range. you'd still have 500% gear range if your cassette had 2 cogs with a 10 and a 50.

!!spd has plenty of range. If you lack the legs get a motor. I actually was able to spin easier on an old Sram XX 2x10 so I'm not sure what you're going on about.

I had it at 160mm years back and put it there again in 29er form... raised the bb 15mm and HA at 63°. Fun as hell bike with a light front end... built mainly for jumping and freeriding so probably not the best for a pedal bike. Changing out the fork to a 150mm shaft would be spot on for a trail bike.

Epic build. I have a few gen 3 nomads, that has got to be some really tight rear tire clearance with a 2.6 DHR II.

That drivetrain was under $150... and the bike is 6 yrs old so why put expensive brand new parts on to send it... so cool story bro!

@loganskis, he doesn't have a 10-50, its 11-50.
@teethandnails, he built a custom set of wheels and blingd the bike out to 11 except (no pun intended) the drivetrain.
The only reason I made the initial comment is bc I just sold a 2018 Following MB with Di2 and people goffed at the fact that it didn't have a 12 speed. I sell and buy a lot of bikes compared to the average person so it was something that I thought was odd for a (imo) a new build. Nothing seems to be older parts on this bike except the frame (custom painted) and pedals. Okay, I will go away now.

I just upgraded to 12 speed on my new bike. It's almost 2020 and he buys all new parts on a refinished bike with outdated drivetrain including a new set of wheels....That's a little weird to me.

You do realize he has the CSMX8-EA5 cassette on the bike, and that particular cassette is a 11-50T cassette. I have this same cassette on one of my bikes, GX Eagle on another, and XO Eagle on another. The Sunrace cassette shifts fine, and offers an nearly unnoticeable experience to most Eagle or 12sp setups. I also live at 5280ft elevation, and do 45m-1hr climbing on the front range of Colorado before I get a descent, so I understand steep climbing at higher altitudes. I know if I had a perfectly good 11sp XT group around, I probably would have done the same over buying another group set. Is at bling as XTR 12sp or XX1 Eagle? Nope, but it got him Bike of the Day!

I just think it's not a good choice to build a new bike with almost obsolete parts in this day when you can get an entire drivetrain (Shimano XT 12 SPD) for $330. Then you can run 32 or 34 tooth front ring and have 11-50 cassette.

11 spd with an 11-50 cassette... a freeride bike to hit jump lines not to climb lame xc hills. Get some legs guys! The entire bike was put together from pinkbike's buy/sell ads minus the wheelset & frame. Braaaap
