Jason is a professional strength trainer for Mountain Bikers and has been running his popular MTB Dryland training programs in North Vancouver for the past 15 years. His business, Bond Training, has helped thousands of riders ranging from competitive athletes to your everyday enthusiast reach new levels of performance, health, resilience, and happiness on and off the bike.
When it comes to practical tools for operating in an optimal state, physically and mentally, Jason has a full toolbox, honed in over years of training and self-development. We had a wide-ranging conversation touching on his competitive racing days and how that led him to develop a strength training regime specific to making Mountain Bikers more powerful on the bike, and also more resilient to injuries when accidents happen.
We also touch on topics including:
- What he has learned about riding, whilst coaching his son's BMX team.
- The best ways to get stronger for mountain biking.
- Analogies from the gym, that can help with our mindset on the bike.
- What his racing days taught him, including his mindset for racing, vs riding for fun.
