The Creation of a Doodle Art Dream Bike

Transforming a Focus Jam 2 E-BIke into a piece of art complete with hand-drawn graphics, custom paint and an over-the-top build kit.

It's almost every bikers dream to create and build their own bike from scratch. Planning the rig down to the smallest titanium bolt, designing a mint paint job, hand picking some of the finest components that the industry has on offer and finally putting everything together to create an outstanding shred machine. Most custom bikes have a cool story, but this one goes a bit further than that!

Grab a beer, sit back and enjoy ten minutes of pure bike dorkery and art!

We started with a blank aluminum frame, and a pot of flip flop varnish called 'Vanilla Sky.'

The special thing about the paint job is certainly the comic-like doodle artwork illustrated by our buddy Uwe Richter a.k.a Stulle & Bemme. He used to work in an animation studio, so it was obvious that we would have to create a "doodle" bike with him!

Uwe was immediately enthusiastic about the project: He simply drew freestyle without any preliminary sketches or specifications but gave free rein to his creativity.

The build is based on a "Focus Jam²" frame in size large with 150mm travel at the rear.

The down tube houses not only doodled animals but also a 625Wh Bosch battery.

It took about two days of drawing to complete the frame before the clear coat was applied.
The animals are drawn in great detail and each one is a small masterpiece in its own right.

The Focus cockpit should be as clean as possible for an E-Bike, so we installed an electronic SRAM AXS drivetrain

The Bosch Kiox Display is quite useful because you can apply it to navigate if it´s connected to your smartphone.

We were very lucky that the guys from BEAST Components built a blue colored special edition of their "ED30" carbon wheelset for this project.

In the shade the carbon rim is almost black and inconspicuous...

but in the sunlight it is just insane blue!

We hope you enjoyed the video about the creation process of this bike and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all friends and sponsors who were involved!
