Kind of a bummer as I really like to nail down a few things on the real bike before committing my money.

That said, I just e-mailed Forbidden to ask if I could place a deposit on one.

This is confusing. It sounds like a rebrand of Fazua to me, but they're spinning it as something different. But then what happens to Fazua, which is wholly owned by Porsche? The joint venture with PON is also weird, I doubt other brands will want to buy motors from the corporate juggernaut that is Cannondale/Santa Cruz/GT/Cervello/Mongoose/Focus... Maybe PON thinks they're big enough to just supply themselves like the motorcycle industry does. Risky bet for your brands.

I could see the squid/crap/old guy market going nuts for a Porsche branded motor. Better be cheap in that case.

The bike industry is so weird.

I had seen another article on the Porsche project, and did some digging on euro websites, and the impression I got is that Fazua will remain as the mid-power offering, whereas the Porsche motor will be a no-holds-barred full power model. In addition, the info I saw suggested that Fazua motors would continue to be sold to any brand who wants to use them, but the Porsche motor might be more exclusive. I'd thought the implication was that it might even only be used on Porsche brand bikes, but now that you guys have pointed out the PON connection, maybe it would be Porsche bikes as well as premium PON brands. Apparently they have already built a new factory in Eastern Europe to produce the motors, and they have a staff of 100 there, plus a staff of 100 in Germany doing the engineering/design, so it sounds like they're pretty serious about the endeavor.

I don't want more petrolhead culture in mountainbiking tbh. Bosch not getting mountainbiking was annoying enough...

Did you get any new info about the bike?

I'm supposed to get details tomorrow on the E-Druid as I have a deposit going in on a confirmed slot, but it was implied that specifics are only for real deposits, so I'm going to abide by that and not post anything.

That said, it's already known that there is a 140/ 150 Lyric build & a 150/ 160 Zeb build. It'll use the DJI motor. It's mullet only and complete builds only.

Just guessing at this next part, but pretty sure there will be 2 build options in each travel bracket, a Transmission model probably with higher end suspension components/ wheels/ etc. & a lower end model with cable actuated Transmission.

I plan to buy the lower end 150/ 160 model, and I'll swap most of those parts to my Relay so that I can sell it off for some decent amount of money. I think the only thing I might hang on to is the cable Transmission, but even that isn't for certain if it's a cheap 600-gram cassette. I already climb everything on 11 speeds on both my pedal bike and my Relay. So, if the E-Druid runs a 32t front chainring, I'll reinstall my 11 speeds. On the other hand, if it's running a 34t I'll run the cable transmission as long as the cassette isn't a turd or an as new Eagle XX1 I still have on the shelf. Basically, the best parts I have will go on my new bike and the cheaper yet new stuff will go back on the Relay for resale.

The 160mm design/ build is a must have because I HAVE to be able to reuse my current 160mm Avy Mezzer Hybrid and I'll need a 160-170 fork to throw on the Relay for resale. I would not buy an electronic shifting only bike, at all. I just don't like the electric shifters. Ironic for an e-biker, I know! The other thing is that I really need to be able to get the bike to a 480-485mm Reach with a reach adjust. I find 475mm too short and 500mm too long. I already know Fordidden's geo and chainstay length will be right.

Things I'd really like but could survive if it didn't have it:

1) I'd REALLY like a 180mm rear rotor mount instead of native 200 mount. I find that with really good brakes a 200mm rear rotor is just too strong and over powers the front too easily. I have amazing brakes on my bikes that are very sensative and strong and the Magura e-bike rotors, don't over heat.

2) no headset cable routing!

3) short crank options would be cool in the 155mm range. But the stock Amflow cranks are bending and it's the ISIS standard so can be bought easily from E13 in different sizes anyways.

4) Would be amazing if my Avy Bomber Trunnion 205 x 65mm shock happened to fit this frame, but that's a stretch.

5) I hope that I can have it under 50#s with a proper coil suspension and gravity rear tire build. But that'll be tough realistically with the high pivot. Even the Amflow once ready to ride is closer to 53#s.I always try to build my bikes as light as I can and consider it a fun distraction, but with no compromise to what I need it to do. And the bikes just come out where they come out, ya know?

Dudes, I'm in the middle of a divorce and frankly at 53, having worked a lot and dealt with a lot of sh*t, I plan to finally start bike tripping with this thing since I won't have this woman up my ass every moment of every day. I don't mean full time or anything, but a couple of big trips a year would be great.

FWIW there's a dude on YT with the lower spec Amflow (with the larger battery) medium frame. He's swapped out the fork for a 170mm Z1, fitted a Bomber CR coil shock, DH tyres, swapped out the stem for a Spank one, the dropper for a wireless Magura, drivetrain to 11 speed XT and he claims it now weighs 22.5kg (under 50 lbs).

Francis' Medium low spec with a 600 watt battery weighed 46.46#s. But that was with no gravity tires, the shock is an inline air & a 36mm fork. No pedals or tools. Although the spec was a bit cheap, the cable drivetrain is actually a weight saver.

Just a quick check of the e-mtb forum and a guy built a high end Amflow with the 800watt battery, DD tires & coil shock and F38 fork, and his weighs 23.8 kgs/ 52.36#s.

Based on my own experiences I'm looking at adding over Francis' weight:

1) add 1/3# for a size L

2) 1# to add my radials

3) add 1 # for my pedals & then another 1# for my tools if the bike has mounts.

4) add a full 2#s for a big coil fork & a coil shock. Honestly it might be 3#s!

5) probably should add some weight for a 210mm dropper over the 150 the medium has

5) plus, now I we have to add the high pivot mechanism itself, the mounting etc.

All my parts are high end, but that doesn't mean they are the lightest. I run a CF rear rim that is DH rated, because I broke the lighter ones, for example.

I just don't see my full power e-bike weighing less than 50#s no matter what I do, but I hope I'm wrong. My Relay has all of this and weighs 45#s ready to ride btw.

Honestly, it's a pet peeve of mine when people claim a bike weight that's unrealistic and not in a rideable form. The weights I say, are as I ride them.

My Smuggler weighs 28.3#s ready to ride. Weighed as the factories/ some people do (.i.e. no pedals, no tools, no sealant, substandard tire), it would weigh under 26#s. In fact looking at the real world weights of my Smuggler and Relay I start to realize that maybe Transition is just less full of crap than most bike manufacturers.

Did I read that right, they're only releasing detials to individuals IF and AFTER they place a deposit? Did they even provide a price prior to deposit or are they demand a blank check and NDA? (that's a bit /s, but not really)

No, it's not like that. Forbidden told me that a local dealer has one on order that can still be configured, however I want, and that they have all the details. The official release hasn't occurred yet, but that 'they would probably share some details in person with a serious customer...'.

The fact is, the release isn't ready and maybe not even final. So they have a right to not share all of that.

I'm told it's very expensive.
