When Mondraker launched the carbon Foxy in 2014, it was by far the brands' most ambitious project to date, and it would ring in an era of impressive, high-quality carbon bikes from the Alicante-based manufacturer - like the longer travel Dune or the World Championship winning Summum. Fast-forward to 2018, and the only thing really missing from the all-mountain and enduro line-up were bigger wheels. That changes today with the introduction of the Foxy 29.

Rather than just tweak the current 27.5" Foxy frame for the bigger wheels and call it good, Mondraker created something new from the ground up. The heritage is still distinctly Mondraker but the new frame is much simpler in its lines. The top tube-chainstay alignment is particularly eye-catching. Mondraker says the Foxy 29 "combines the agility, precise handling and lightness of a trail bike with the great absorption, traction and confidence inspiring handling of a hardcore Enduro bike in a bigger wheeled package." That sounds like a big claim, but with 150/160mm of travel and a 66-degree headangle, there is probably not a lot this bike can't handle. Speccing a FOX 36 up front across the whole range also says a lot about the intentions behind this new bike.
Forward Geometry
Mondraker was one of the pioneers of the longer-reach-shorter-stem movement, and the 2018 Foxy 29 picks right up where its predecessors left off. Interestingly, Mondraker has also jumped on the short offset fork train, claiming it works particularly well with the longer reach numbers to create bike with "increased stability at speed, better front wheel control and dramatically improved front tire grip." Mondraker has also kept the chainstays short at 435mm, and short seat tubes across the 4 different frame sizes should allow riders of any size to fit a proper dropper too.
Zero Suspension System
Refined for the new bike, this is what Mondraker has to say about the rear suspension system on the Foxy 29: "Zero Suspension System has been specifically developed for 29“ wheels with snappier response and better pedaling efficiency. Modifying rear suspension pivot placements lead to higher antisquat figures that result in crispier acceleration, a perfectly stable and remarkably agile ride that matches Zero’s proprietary planted feeling & suppleness with bigger wheels combination. Metric sized shock with Trunnion mount, Carbon Stiffness Control upper linkage technology blending carbon and aluminium on the top suspension unique link, stiff and reliable 15 mm collet thru-axle pivots with larger Enduro branded bearings on all three models and same 150mm rear suspension travel as its 27’5” counterpart leads to our most efficient and capable bike with extraordinary rear suspension enhanced performance and unique Foxy Carbon 29 experience."
