"A number of major European cycling teams have been exploring plans to create a new competitive league in a move that could reshape the sport's landscape and allocate more funding for participants, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters."

Yes, it's for road cycling, but it might be a portent of things to come for cycling in general.

So...Van Der Poel will be racing the new Red Bull Hardline series? Hopefully he's been practicing some drops.
Also, Ronan Dunne could be riding an Intense, would that fit with him going to the MS team?

yes it's for road racing but
even the political and regional and administrative links that ASO has with every prefecture and departement/county and its power and knowledge and exposure they have all over France will make it difficult for the race organizers and mayors in France to change their view. in France ASO is allmighty. they own the races
The name recognition of the Tour is far, far superior to that of Pogacar, Vingegaard or any other rider in the peloton. to close followers it would matter if lesser names won the Tour after a split, to the median Tour viewer, not so much.
Organizing bike races seems pretty hard and let's assume the organizers are very depending on goodwill from local/regional/national Governments to close roads and get enough police support etc. wonder if a breakaway league might struggle to get the same goodwill that traditional races have.
maybe a potential breakaway league ending up doing races on short, closed circuits, one single mountain that is easy to close of for a couple of hours etc.

They've been banging on about this for 25 years. Unless oil money pulls a Liv Tour it will never happen and they're just not into cycling.
French businesses can offset tax to the chosen associations, foundations and endowment funds of their choice. As Dorval is an asset management company (the AM in the team name doesn't stand for all mountain) they wouldn't be changing their arrangement unless they were going belly up.
But notice how Emilie has been MIA for quite a while now? She missed half the season this year.

But notice how Emilie has been MIA for quite a while now? She missed half the season this year.
I know Cami got hurt at Andorra, but ever since Emilie has not been present at the Pivot camp. Whereas before she was there very round, even after MSA in 2022 when Cam wrecked her collarbone.
Maybe there was a falling out after Bernie started dating his 19yo employee?
Emilie is on the Making Up the Numbers podcast and hasn’t indicated any split with Pivot and has explained why she didn’t go to North America...
Emilie is on the Making Up the Numbers podcast and hasn’t indicated any split with Pivot and has explained why she didn’t go to North America with the team pretty extensively. Partially cost and partially to take care of Cami.
This and the marvelous Ed Bull Media House was there to do Conti and other Insta stuff
Yep. Most probably not happening.

Considering assets on the global market are getting hit really hard right now, it's a possibility.
I work in insurance and carriers across the US, all huge, went from reporting "record profit" last year to reporting "record losses" this year.
Basically, inflation is hitting their reserves as they pay claims out of a reserve fund they didn't pool enough money in because they were busy paying their CEO's record bonuses.
And it's every single one of the the monster companies
Interesting... I wonder what Sean Leader is going to do, now.
I can see Gwin really working on turning Windrock into even more of a development...
Interesting... I wonder what Sean Leader is going to do, now.
I can see Gwin really working on turning Windrock into even more of a development location for youngsters to get support and coaching in the sport.
I'd imagine Sean might take a nap. He has got to be the single hardest working human being I know.
The # of different projects he has going on that have NOTHING to do with each other is mind boggling.
I don't even see how Gwin can make it work if Sean isn't the General Manager/Diesel Technician/Trail Boss/Liason/Equipment Operator/Event Operations/Mapping/Accounting/Marketing/Bike Shop Mechanic.
I say that partly in jest. I realize he's got a crazy hard working crew of drivers and maintenance guys who burn the midnight oil.
Leader told me he somewhat disappears for the month of July & tries to go M.I.A. with it being the slowest month for the park. So maybe the same benefit that lets Leader own a full time trail building company will play into Gwin's routine too.
Will we still be getting VitalRaw’s in the near future? From my understanding, it’s getting or will be getting more difficult for photographers and filmers to work WC races with Discovery wanting to control what media gets out.

afaik everything w/ vital raw is normal. it was almost easier this year than in years past.
If say he's bought it to make money. He's not a charity there will clearly be dollar signs flashing in his eyes.
There's good money to be made in youth development and skills coaching if done properly. A lot more to be made there than $20 lift tickets (I know Windrock tickets are more than $20.. but point stands).

Windrock is on a big chunk of private land right? So unlike a lot of western resorts on forest service leases he could also be looking at it from a real estate investment / development / long term appreciation angle. And if he has the money to buy it outright he may may not need to make a ton off it initially.

Windrock is on a mega-massive hunk of utility owned land.
Coal Creek Mining Company owns the entire property, leases out various operations on the property.
The primary activity there is the OHV park, which if you've never googled...the videos are endless. Some mellow...most gnarly OHV terrain. The words "bring a trailer" are very appropriate.
WindRock Bike park lies dead center in the middle of the main parking lot on the Tennessee side & dumps out into the OHV parking/staging area.
The biggest plus about having a bike park in the middle of an OHV park is that injuries in the bike park barely register on their radar.

The OHV scene is absolutely nuts out there. I literally saw a semi pull up with like 10 OHVs on it which unloaded for folks to ride. There was also a Bronco convention going on when we were there, which was awesome. And the rock crawler rigs made out of welded tubing are pretty crazy. The mountain bikes are definitely a secondary attraction for the area.
Gwin just posted that he was in Vancouver, could be negotiating some team deals for next year...
Yes, was just going to post this. Gwin doesn't just randomly travel to Vancouver. And he said 'see you soon' which makes me believe he's inked a deal, etc. Could be any brand from as far south as Bellingham. Edit: If not his frame sponsor, it could be a small deal like clothing, etc. (7Mesh, Sombrio, etc.)

I believe Todd Schumlick (IFR team manager) lives in Squamish. *edit - creeped his Insta and looks like he is now on the Sunshine Coast - a quick ferry ride away from West Van.

word on the street hes going to rename it to Gwinrock
Edit: too slow
Where did your understanding come from? As Spomer said. This year was better/easier for many of the media.
I would prefer not to say as I don’t want to involve the person who told me.

SRAM's "mtb brand team" is based out of a little office here in North Vancouver. Gwin to SRAM / Rock Shox for 2024.
Could have been visiting trainer and Seth
Intense will focus on young blood and American talent in the future.
