Watched junior racing on YT before I head up tomorrow to watch racing in person. Coverage was fantastic I thought, saw so much of the track. Gwinny was great again too, excited for tomorrow
Seems like they haven’t done a great job padding the trees this round. Kade hit a tree and if you look at the course markings it’s borderline in the track. Chris Hauser hit one and broke his wrist. Tree was at the end of wet bridge.

If you've never been to Snowshoe...there are more trees than rocks. You'd go broke trying to pad everything.
None of the rocks are padded. Riders are padded. Elbows. Backs. Brains. Shins. Knees.
I've never been bothered by trees not having pads. Lung puncturing dead fall on the downslope is my phobia though.

Never said every tree should be padded. And I live a BC rain forest so well aware about trees, Snowshoe looks like a Xmas tree farm in comparison. just saying there’s a couple obvious ones that ended some riders seasons that could have needed some love. Hauser was going down early here but anyone could have washed out on the bridge into the tree.

Sorry. Wasn't going at you. Been trying to keep my posts form being paragraphs.
Just trying to wet the fire of internet "course negligence" outrage regarding a fully padded 1 1/4 mile long forest. Put on races long ago & I cannot imagine making a dime off a race for having to cushion a rock strewn forest.
I assume they used every pad in existence and mitigated as much as possible. Dudes going ludicrous speed are gonna find a solid object eventually.
"Sir we used 187 tree pads on course. We're 3 short of perfection. Can you order a case?"
"No."
Do we finally have real competition to the tyre standard of Maxxis?
Yes I realise There's other brands but not to this extent of easy success, ie brands/riders running conti instead of Maxxis when given the choice.
This may or may not be true, but I've been told a major US DH race promoter that US jurisprudence says that if the race promoter or resort puts up one tree pad they're liable for all the trees that don't have one. But if you don't put up any tree pads, the courts will view all trees as an inherent risk of the course and you the race promoter or resort are exempt from liability. Again, I don't know if that's true, but it would be a huuuuuuge disincentive for using tree pads in the good ol' US of A.

In a trail building clinic I was told a similar thing for helmets but it varies by state laws. If you have a sign saying helmets are required, you’re admitting the trails are dangerous and open yourself to liability. Same thing if a homeowner has a dog warning sign in their yard.

I work in the insurance industry and that's more or less my experience.
DH courses would be better off just NOT putting pads on trees the way we let litigants succeed.
You never receive CREDIT for trying to mitigate to the best of your ability.
You only get DEBITED for the one thing you didn't think of.
Ride over every dangerous thing on earth on a balance bike. Huck yourself into oblivion.
Even after you willingly hurl yourself down a muddy mountain off wooden features named CupCake Drop & V Gap...you can still go sue the mountain, the event, the timing, the course marshall, the creek bed, the bridge wood donor, the EMT's that assisted but didn't save the life you willingly chose to put at risk if find so much as ONE obstacle to mangle yourself on.

This has definitely been Conti's year. Great results and lots of high profile punctures for Maxxis.
I know a land owner here locally who was our congressman & senator at various points in time. Really a hippy soul these days but a wealthy attorney from way back.
Has a ton of land people would ride, horse back & hike on. I approached him (I've never "assumed" it was OK), asked him if it was OK to ride on his trails.
He said "I never want to give permission. I simply never saw you. " Great guy. He explained that giving permission opened him up to litigation. The less he knew the better.

We're having the same issue here. A group is trying to formalize some trails that have been there forever. The landowner is 100% fine them being there as long as he 'doesn't know'. The group trying to make them official will remove his plausable deniability and make him liable so he will have to get rid of them. So dumb.
Ritchie looks to have safely qualified.
Strong quali from Chris Grice.
Neko on the qualifying bubble currently....
Luca too, but is thankfully protected as rider no. 20.
At least.
today's RAW
reports are kade took a digger, bonked head and sat out quali. glad he chose to chill.
benoit broken scaphoid...worst news ever.
weather is looking wetter than an otters pocket for finals

MoiMoi TV said Donnie (Dean Lucas) had a huge one and was airlifted out. Anyone know?
Answered my own post. Sounds very scary. Glad he has movement and his sensation back. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cxy01G9rlJM/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

That’s an amazing phrase.
snowshoe results - https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/news/final-results-snowshoe-world-cup-dow…
insane race!!! #oldbikesrule LOL
Looks like Bruni was running blacked out Argotals at this round. BK and friends giving him some grief.
Is this the first time in the last couple years there aren’t any maxxis tires on the podium?
There are pics from the finish of Loudenville of him on some huge knobs I knew weren't Cannibals. That explains that.
He was on specy hillbilly tire there

Warning. Vital MTB may cause stoke for downhill bikes.
(did i just legally prove in the USA that downhill bikes are sick? ; )
