Considering 27.5" Wheel-compatible Forks for 2005 Stumpjumper Expert --- YES, THIS IS WEIRD, I GET IT

Hello - new to forum - and total mountain bike newbie.

Went downhill mountain biking for the first time ever at Steamboat in Colorado this past weekend when I had some spare time at a kids' soccer tournament. LOVED IT!

I'm big into MX bikes, but I am going mega budget here to kick things off ---> I took my old 2005 Specialized Stumpjumper Expert out on this first downhill ride, 18 year-old tires and all!

Question: I *think* I am seeing that 26" wheels seem to make things a little harder for downhill riding in general relative to 27.5" and 29" fronts (by observation of other riders with larger wheels) ---> How hard is it to mount a set of forks that accept a 27.5" front wheel AND does anyone have a nice fork you're wanting to sell?
