So (and this is news to me), in the IXS Cup; the top 30 qualifiers along with some formula to establish protected riders go to the "Super Final" and the remainder are relegated to the "Small Final." So, even though Ropo qualied outside of the top 30; his race time would have had him finishing 17th just ahead of Blenki and Gee.

According to rule 17 on that link above, I believe that Ropo would be ranked 32nd on the day. This system puts a really big emphasis on qualifying and takes some of that race day drama out of the mix which is a bit of a bummer. Anyway, the good news is that in the grand scheme of things; Mitch looks to be right in the mix with some good company. He looks poised to make some noise on the World Cup this year.
