Locals episode 3! This installment takes us down to San Diego, CA with our homie John Keep. Born and raise in SD, Keep is the definition of a local. Although racing has brought him all over the country and the world, he can’t stop loving this SoCal sunshine. John's definitely a silent assassin. While he seems reserved to most, when you get him on a bike all hell breaks loose. His rowdy nature can be seen in his roost and whips. John's not one to brag or show off so we're here to do it for him! Being able to capture him getting sideways on his backyard trails was an absolute treat.
John has been racing professionally for the last 6 years. That's a long time for a guy in his early 20's! We all get into racing for different reasons but it always starts with loving bikes more than anything else. After years of travel and the pressure of the sport, your focuses and ambitions can start to change. Riding had become more of a job then anything else and John no longer found himself wanting to ride. He had lost his burning passion for bikes so he decided to make some major changes. He stopped racing so he could get back to why he fell in love with bikes in the first place.
John now only focuses on having fun, all day, everyday. Whether it’s trail riding, DH laps or boosting on his 20’, as long as there's wheels under him he's stoked. He took it back to the roots and found his love for bikes again.
