First Look: Q36R Quick Release System for FOX 36 Forks 15

Love your FOX 36 fork, but tired of those 5 bolts standing in the way of you and quick removal of your front wheel? Colorado-based bike shop and general suspension tuners The Flow Zone have developed a product that turns the factory-supplied pinch bolt system into a quick release system instead. It uses the original axle, to which it adds a QR-style lever, while replacing the standard pinch bolts with longer bolts and QR skewers.

Q36R Highlights

  • Custom CNC’d from 7075 T6 and 6061 T6 Aluminum
  • Engineered, prototyped and tested in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado
  • Tool-free wheel removal
  • Works with both 15mm and 20mm FOX factory axles
  • Simple installation process (how-to video below)
  • Adjustable preload lever position
  • Quick release lever bolts can be torqued in the closed position to match factory set-up (retains the axle clamp strength of the factory bolt-on with quick release ease-of-use)
  • MSRP: $89 USD

Note that the system is designed to replicate the clamping force provided by the factory pinch bolt system (when torqued to spec), so there should be no performance impact beyond the 99-gram weight penalty incurred by fitting this upgrade.

Check out the how-to-install video below for a glimpse of the Q36R in action, and head over to www.mavericksuspension.com for more information.
