SC-Intense Adds Buchanan and Connell, Says They're Racing 650B at World Cups for 2013 4

It's that time of year again! Hot of the press this morning is this press release (below) from Team Suspension Center-Intense. The big takeaways here are the addition of Lewis Buchanan and Joe Connel, two pinners who are sure to leave a mark on the 2013 World Cup series. Notably absent from the lineup are Florent Payet, Josh Button, both of whom had Top 20 finishes at World Champs. Also of interest is that the release says the squad will be racing on 27.5-inch Intense M9 downhill bikes...

PRESS RELEASE: December 17, 2012 - SC-Intense Announces Team Lineup for 2013

For 2013 Suspension Center of Switzerland and Intense Cycles of California will continue their joint effort posting a powerful UCI Downhill team racing around the globe. With 2 top UK riders, 2 Swiss National Champions and a promising young Junior the SC-Intense team is roaring to go!

Joining us new for 2013 will be Lewis Buchanan from Scotland. A young and slick rider who is ready to mix it up with the fastest guys out there.
Lewis states; “ I’m pumped to have signed with the SC-Intense team this year. Fresh start , clean slate, and I’ve got the support to get the job done!”

“We’re really excited to have Lew on board for 2013. He’s had his ups and downs the past few seasons with a few injuries but he’s coming back with a vengeance to show us all just what’s lurking inside” says Team Manager Gery Peyer.


And while fishing ( not for fish ) in Scotland we came upon our next new addition to the team, Joe Connell, another bright rising star.

Joe states; “Joining the SC-Intense team for 2013 is a great step for me. I am very excited to be racing on a team with a professional attitude and a great support program. I’m really looking forward to racing on the Intense M9 and I have a lot of confidence in all the components and parts that we are going to be racing on. Next year is my first elite season and I am looking forward to building on my previous WC experience and racing on some awesome tracks with Lewis, Miri, Lars and Joel. I can’t wait to get racing again!”

Back again will be the reigning National Champs Miriam Ruchti and Lars Peyer. 
Miri will be out for the IXS overall win and a podium spot at the World Cups this coming season and Lars is setting his sights on IXS podiums and WC finals. Both are really looking forward to be on their new Pacenti / Schwalbe equipped 27.5 Intense M9’s.


“After testing and comparing the new 650b wheels to the standard 26”wheels I’ve got to say I’m hooked!” Notes Lars after competing on the 650b wheels at the last 4 races of the season with great results.

2013 marks the return of a top Junior racer into the SC-Intense team. Joel Andrey from Switzerland, a young talent who has the size and strength to man-handle any mountain set in front of him. Joel will race select World Cup events and all the IXS Euro Cups, picking up speed and experience from the other riders on the team. Welcome!
