2010 Mountain States Cup Series

TRIPLE CROWN BRINGS TOP TALENT  TO

MSC #2, CHALK CREEK STAMPEDE

MSC #2, Chalk Creek Stampede will see some of the top talent in domestic mountain bike racing this weekend in Nathrop, Colorado. We have tagged team this event with the promoters of the H2O Overdrive Triple Crown Series
to bring big prize purses, high level competition, and more races to
crown the best overall rider in cross country, short track and super d.
The Mountain States Cup Gravity Series also kicks off at Chalk Creek
with four cross and dual slalom.

"The 10th
annual Chalk Creek Stampede is going to be a great weekend of racing.
We are excited and proud to be a part of the Triple Crown Series," said
Keith Darner, Bigfoot Productions race director. "For the XC racers we
have taken out the hike a' bike and have added in a sweet switch back
that is all rideable. Both of the 4X courses have had improvements made
to the features which should make for better racing and more passing.
The dual slalom is unchanged and rolling faster than ever, as is the
STXC."

The new super d
course will be raced at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The course is 3.8 miles
long and will run on an individual start time trial
format. All riders are required to ride to the start of the super d
which is 1.4 miles from the venue. Course descriptions are available at
racemsc.com and as well as super d and cross country course profiles.

"Even though
the course is only 3.8 miles long, it is still a bit on the challenging
side. We think the top times will be in the 12 to 15 minute mark
depending on the wind that day. The first 2.8 miles is fun singletrack
that is about 95% on a descending path with three short quick power
climbs. The last .9 mile is a very gradual uphill," Darner said.

There are no conflicting World Cup race
this weekend, so the turnout will be big. Sid Taberly
(Sho-Air/Specialized) is considered the men's favorite, with the
potential to win all three events for the Triple Crown.
Other serious competition includes National Champion Jeremy
Horgan-Kobelski (Subaru/Gary Fisher), Andy Schultz (Kenda-Felt), U23
Champion Colin Cares (Kenda / Tomac / Hayes) and Benn Sonntag
(Cannondale Factory Racing) who stood on the podium twice at MSC #1,
Rabbit Valley Rally.

The women's field is expected to be even deeper with Georgia Gould (Luna Pro Team), National Champion Heather Irmiger (Subaru/Gary Fisher), Kelli Emmett (Team Giant) and Katie Compton (Planet Bike) battling it out in all three events.

There is
limited parking near the course. We will be able to park 75 to 100 cars
near the venue. Parking pass is required for parking on-site at the
venue and range in $5 - $12 depending on the number of days. Shuttles
from the front gate will be provided for bags and spectators. All
traffic, bicycle or otherwise will follow the prescribed route to the
race venue. If you have a team trailer coming to the venue, it must be
in by Friday evening. If you absolutely can't make it in Friday, then
you will need to have it in no later than 6:45 a.m. on Saturday
morning. Please contact Keith Darner at 719-221-1251 or keith@racemsc.com to arrange.
