Dam, I've had like 5 of those, They are not fun and surgery for them is a long recovery too.

Dammit it's hard being a Mick fan, only disappointments in the last 12 months. Can't imagine how he must feel, all the tracks seemed to suit him this season. I'm still not giving up on being a Mick fan :-)

Update from the UR team on Mick's injury

Hi All

Some of you may have seen the post on the teams Facebook page; Sik Mik had a huge crash today. He clipped a pedal and went over the bars in a very fast rocky section. He landed on his head and right shoulder.

His head is ok, however after a trip to the hospital and some scans it has been made clear that he has separated his AC joint and torn his ligaments (stage 3 separated shoulder). After speaking to Inverness and Fort William surgeons, they think he won't actually need surgery however the team will turn to shoulder specialists in the coming week in order to get a second opinion on this. What ever happens, he won't be able to ride a bike for several weeks.

We won't speculate yet on how much time he will take to recover, but Mick is still as focused as ever and knows that he'll be back before the end of the season to battle it out for worlds.

The whole Hutchinson UR team wishes Mick a very speedy recovery.

Send him your heeling vibes :

Day 2 Slideshow is up and running

Looks like qualifying day is going to be an early one! Wind is going to be problematic, so they're getting a 630am start with all riders being required to be at the top of the gondola by 1030am tomorrow. start brewin' the coffee!

The Red Bull Bike website says it's on at 5:15 PST and somewhere else I saw 6:15. Any idea who's right?

6:15 PST. 16 hours and 15 minutes from now, as I type this (2pm PST).

Technically, that IS actually 5:15 PST - because you are now on PDT!! So it's actually 6:15 PDT, aka "Wess Coast Time" bro.

some qualifying updates as i'm building the slideshow
- needles flatted and is not protected, so he's out of the show. #majorbummer
- sven mentions "one in 10 riders seemed to come down with flat tires before actual qualifying" (remember this thread?)
- bryceland was 2nd quickest at top split before flatting.
- stevie "cruised" the top section
- didn't sound like rachel had any real problems in here run which is surprising given her time
- minnaar flatted (should i put another link to the flat tire thread?)

I thought Enduro was where downhillers went to die. Is freestyle the new Enduro? How bout a new discipline, Enduro and style. You ride a trail loop on which you are timed, but there are random freestyle booters off in the woods upon which your style is judged towards time reductions. I'm accepting bids from major energy drink companies for World Series backing.

On a more topical note. How bout that Troy Brosnan? They've always said us big guys have the gravity advantage, but maybe it's better to be light to skip over all the bumps like moto whoops? Light weight, stiff suspension and Popeye arms.
