Some smartypants Euros have had one of my "Million Dollar Ideas" and made it a reality. Pretty cool.

We are not far off from a reliable tracking system for airborne systems. Many of the current systems do not have any sort of sense and avoid which is very necessary when the aircraft is truly flying autonomously. Safety tech has to catch up to the tracking systems. I have filmed for three years with multicopters and FPV fixed wing aircraft. These aircraft will allow low budget projects in the action sports world to get high dollar shots but thats not going to happen if we start crashing drones into people, buildings or athletes (has already happened). Fly responsibly so we can have a good future for drone use.

Hey, I thought I was the old man around these parts. Yeah the sense and avoid aspect is the final hurdle. But some day, imagine taking one of these to Whistler and being able to fly on a bike through the trees with your camera flying through them behind or in front of you. Wow.

The Hexo Copter is more along the lines of my idea. Why bother with the remote signal thingy of the Air Dog when almost everybody has a smartphone with GPS? But as I was typing that, I realized that smart phones don't generally like water. So having the ability to switch between a remote and a GPS phone is key, even after they figure out sense and avoid.

Hey, guys! Just discovered you had a nice chat about AirDog Smile so I'm just gonna fill in some bits:

@ oldmantompkins : We're actually going to implement obstacle avoidance system if we reach 1 000 000 goal on Kickstarter. We had already started working on it, so with a bit more money we can build it now.

@ Big Bird: Apart from being non resistant to water, smartphones can also be quite inconvenient when you're wakeboarding, surfing or shredding down the hill. But we've built an app for those who would prefer smartphone controls.

A bit more about AirDog:

- Waterproof tracker enables you to shoot videos above water (surf, wake, kite) without range issues and with delayed take-off option;
- Full camera auto-control including pitch control - keeps you in the middle of the frame at all times;
- GoPro is in its protective case (AirDog is the only drone that offers this);
- Foldable design which makes AirDog easy to carry and store;
- Tracker is easy to use with gloves or on helmet when it is out of sight
- AirDog has many advanced flight modes (six) like record lap, aim &shoot, circle around plus many dedicated modes for different action sports, because in every sports you need a bit different settings from our experience. It is not just about sending drone to a GPS coordinates;
- Increased wind resistance. We could have made it smaller and lighter, but scientific simulations led us to current design. If it is too light - stronger wind will blow it away;
-Unlike other drones, AirDog doesn't land on gimbal and GoPro (you don't wanna do that). So we have a camera mounted in front.
- All footage you see in our video is made with actual AirDog prototypes.

I'll be happy to answer questions. Cheers!
Dace Team Airdog
