In the same meeting that saw the 2018 World Cup Calendar approved, the UCI also awarded the 2020 World Championships to Leogang, Austria.
"As well as the 2019 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, the UCI Management Committee awarded the following events:
2018 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships to Varese (Italy);
2019 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships to Grächen (Switzerland);
2020 UCI Mountain Bike Cross-country Olympic World Championships to Albstadt (Germany);
2020 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Championships to Leogang (Austria)."

Maybe Aaron will finally shake the World Champ monkey off that year with a chainless run in which he also gets a flat, but still rides flat out.
I'll concede this: If they cut a new track, IN THE WOODS, not in cow pasture with fireroad traverses, that race would be sick. The woods off to the rider's left are mad steep and so sick; it could potentially remove the #notschaldming stigma.
10 years!
At least the view isn't bad...? :/
