7/2/2026 11:18pm lol. Fair. I guess what I meant was that it would be a bodge job in the eyes of Shimano, who would almost certainly deny warranty to any customer who did that to their cranks.

7/2/2026 11:17pm There's the Priority team running them this season and Hattie Harnden already won a womens EWS round on a Nicolai gearbox bike last season.

7/2/2026 11:16pm I'd like to think within 5-10 years, most emtbs, AND trail, enduro and DH bikes will have gearboxes and no derailleur. Once it's a bit lighter and more efficient (arguably it's already close enough), it's the clear next step in innovation as geo has mostly settled lower longer and slacker enough (lol). It's only a matter of time

7/2/2026 11:16pm Blah blah blah heard this so many times, I pedal up to enjoy my ride down. Everyone's all about their idlers, heavy a$$ forks and tires etc that make so much more of a difference in the effort on the way up, while offering much less on the way back down than a gear box. Trying to focus on the innovation here. Everyone heard that it's impossible to pedal a bike with a gearbox (mostly from those who read it on the internet or tried it once...). Derailleurs are stupid and if it takes a moped to get rid of...

7/2/2026 11:15pm I am going to be completely transparent here in that I work for FSA, but I will say I worked really hard on making the 31.8 40mm Gradient alloy bar one of the most compliant on the market. and here is the proof: (chart from PB article)

6/30/2026 8:27am The electronic suspension/high pivot/stand up and pedal convo is the dumbest thing to happen to tech rumors in a long time. Banal, illogical, myopic.

6/22/2026 10:36pm I have fox vest that I more or less use as a high vis vest since there’s hunters many places I ride. The pull tab on the tiny zipper broke but it still works just fine.

6/22/2026 7:16pm To each their own. I don’t own either (and won’t anytime in the near future), but I would take a Surron before an e-bike everyday of the week if it was for personal use. (I would only ride the Surron on trails designated for motorized use or private property where I had explicit permissions)

6/20/2026 9:07am The vast majority of people in this thread (and other threads) are pointing to the need for tires like HR3 for loose over hard. The float you’re experiencing in those conditions is from not having large enough/spaced out enough knobs to “punch” through. Assegai is incredible in pretty much all other conditions but loose over hard it definitely “floats”

6/18/2026 9:35am OP do you think it was the dead zone or the loose over hard that got you? i have HATED my assegai in loose over hard. $30 base Dissector performs better in loose over hard than assegai. HR3/Hillbilly/etc are all better tires if youre dealing with loose over hard conditions. I ride in santa cruz and there are a lot...
