If sitting’s good enough for Rachel Atherton, it’s good enough for me.
I sit often.
Been seeing a lot of others out there sitting too.
There is this one commuto-warrior who doesn’t sit. Has no seat. I think he’s also in those five-toe shoes. You could go that route. Just ditch the seat.
Great post. Are you from Mars?
I haven’t ridden a hardtail in a decade but I sat on that mofo too.
Yeah I sit. I’ll even wear padded shorts for better sitting.
are you seeing any other humanoids while you’re riding?
Are my friend who insists on eating a raw potato once a month?
Lmao, no I'm none of those. Only rode a HT in Virginia key years ago. Sitting didn't seem to be an option almost the whole time. Wondering if full suspension solves that.
In a less snarky tone, yes, everyone sits. It's why padded shorts have existed for decades. And why some companies go to sexy extremes to sell saddles. Some of the most extreme of us even get saddle sores, like your mama did down at the stables. Oops, some of that snarky sneaking in. In the words of a bike shop owner I know... "I knew I'd found the woman to marry when she lanced my saddle sores."
Yeah on a HT I sit all the time. If its technical uphill or need to stand up to get more power on a single speed ill be out of the saddle. Downhill I will be out of the saddle. Anything else I am sitting.

Seconding this. No way am I going to stand the whole time for a for a 45+ - minute climb
I sit as much as the trail will allow to conserve energy.
You may want to look at your saddle height. I have found that I do better on the trail with a saddle slightly lower than the optimized "roadie" height. Unless I'm on pavement or something of similar smoothness, I like to keep my dropper slightly shorter than full extension. It makes getting out of the saddle easier and it also gives me more room to work with if I don't have time to drop the post entirely.
I'm wondering if you have a long enough seatpost for your hardtail, or if your seatpost is so short you can't get full extension. Also, if you don't have a fancy modern dropper seatpost, you'll need to stop at the bottom of climbs to put your seatpost up and stop at the start of descents to put your seatpost down. And if you're located in Miami and there are no big climbs or descents, you'll probably want to run your seatpost a little bit down from full saddle height like the previous poster mentioned.

Not in my singlespeed days but sit and spin to win if you got a derailleur for most climbing.

Don't actually have a bike atm but when I did I didn't have a dropper. It may have been too low.
