RESULTS: Vallnord World Cup DH Junior Finals 3

And your winners are...

Picture perfect weather conditions greeted the juniors as they took on the challenging new DH track in Vallnord for their finals today. Loose and dusty, the track had a lot of the riders looking tentative as the junior women got underway, but freshly crowned World Champion Erice van Leuven from New Zealand carried her new rainbow striped jersey to the finish line with notably more aggression and conviction than anybody else. Fastest qualifier Valentina Roa Sanchez also rode well but still had to give up over 5 seconds to the flying Kiwi today.

The speeds picked up as the junior men dropped in, and the fastest qualifiers put on a fantastic show of commitment and skill on a track that was getting rougher by the minute. Christian Hauser from the Vital-supported Union Forged by Steel City Media team got close to the top step of the podium again with fast and fluid riding, while Evan Medcalf looked like he was on a potentially winning run until it ultimately got away from him as a few small mistakes added up at the line. In the end it was Ryan Pinkerton who had the last word today as he took his first-ever junior World Cup win with an uncontested performance, capping off a great day for #USDH. Shoutout to the World Champ from Fort William, Henri Kiefer, who was out injured for this round.
