While I enjoyed this very much. I was hoping for a proper, long, personal podcast with Steve. Anytime he has something to say, I cannot get enough. It would be really nice to get to know his journey and background too.

Very good interview. They know their stuff and aren't afraid to call out what doesn't work. 

I love the unplanned (?) irony that its sponsored by Fox.

That was a great chat! Stevehas a great approach to tuning other peoples products and illustrates how its not always that simple to just change out the piston or shims and transform the damper.

Steve rules, been talking to him for a long time since the Ridemonkey DH forum days, then worked with him a little bit when I was at Fox. Great dude, never forgot me which would be easy to do. Always loved his products, I recently got a Smashpot that is waiting for me to get off my ass and install in my 36. Can't wait to see what he comes up with

A sight glass in fork lowers is a good idea. I still think a drain plug and fill hole would be a huge improvement too.

Yeah I've thought something like this would be a great idea too, Fox even provide a convenient threaded hole that needs a better function that the current one! Funny thing is Rockshox fitted a drain plug to their totem and maybe the original Lyrik back in about 2006 but it didn't really catch on sadly. The OG Avid Juicy also had an inspection window on the brake levers, until SRAM bought them and ditched the window (and split clamp) when they brought production to their factories Sad

Steve knows his shit.  Couldn't agree more trunnion is dumb.  My new Wild has trunnion and I've just begun noodling on whether replacing the enduro bearings with spherical or roller bearings is feasible or would offer any hope of improved life.

Looking forward to giving this a listen. I'm 2 rides into having installed a Smashpot into my Fox Factory grip 2 36. Not joking when I say it's the best upgrade Ive made to my bike since first installing a dropper post some 10+ years ago. We've all been so conditioned into thinking the performance of air sprung suspension is what it is because that is all that the big players have made available (for no other reason than it complicates the selling proposition) since the 36 VAN departed us.
