Bob Weber set out on a crusade to make the safest motorcycle and mountain bike helmets available and today they're celebrating their 10-year anniversary. Vital spent a morning with Bob and Derek from 6D riding bikes and then sitting down to discuss their journey. Their patented ODS helmet technology is explained along with Bob's philosophy about preventing concussions and minimizing injury from cycling and biking-related crashes.

Jason and Shawn rode in the 6D ATB-2T helmet earlier that morning and were surprised by its comfort and stability on the trail. The protection offered by the helmet, paired with the comfort and fit has them considering running it full-time.

@Jason_Schroeder - thanks for this and just getting a chance to listen. Do you have any idea (or would you mind asking) what brand and model of helmet Bob is talking about at the 37 minute mark? I've got a 3 year old who needs a new helmet and loves to crash. I would appreciate it. 

I currently have 3x 6D helmets in my garage so also tell him thanks for prioritizing protection against concussions and not necessarily looks or size

Definitely sounds like he knows what he’s talking about with helmets but I’m having a hard time getting past the one clipless and one platform pedal thing…

This was a really interesting one. Made me question the helmets that I had just ordered a few days earlier. However, as much as I understand Bob saying that riders should choose helmets based on ultimate safety and no other priorities, I can't quite get on board with that--I have to pick a helmet based on how comfortable/functional it's going to be for the hundreds of hours that I'm wearing it and not crashing, too. Sweat management in particular is a major factor for me. There aren't very many helmets that don't drip sweat down into my eyes, and finding one that actually keeps my eyes clear was a game-changer for me. Haven't tried 6D helmets (yet) so I don't know if they succeed in this regard. It might sound trivial but it's a real deal-breaker for me at this point.

Big fan of Bob Weber personally and admire his story and path with 6D, he could have stayed on board with the helmet brand he was at, but he wanted better, safer...and risked it all. Saving peoples lives, not a bad path to take. Wishing him continued success.

I own an ATB 2-T. It's big, but totally worth it. Excellent fit.

Not a reason on earth you wouldn't run 6D. Ryan Radriguez says he trail rides the ATB-1 full face every ride. 

Big huge head friendly, btw

That was a very very interesting Inside Line and it had me questioning the next Vital video i watched, which was  the review of the new Bell Full 10.
