RESULTS and REPLAY: Val di Sole Junior DH Finals 1

The young guns have done their thing in Val di Sole.

The skies were overcast but the conditions stayed dry and fair both for the junior women and men today in Val di Sole. The live broadcast once again kicked off with no commentary sound and then froze up for a couple of riders about halfway through the women, before it all got sorted out. As for the track, the (in)famous Black Snake bared its fangs as the holes got progressively deeper and deeper, demanding pin point precision and the strength to hold on all the way to the bottom if you wanted to get anywhere near the podium. New Zealand's Sacha Earnest laid claim to the fastest run of the day in the junior women's, besting her country women Erice van Leuven by a whopping 12 seconds. In the junior men's category, Bodhi Kuhn returned to his winning ways with a fast and controlled run, but the big story of the day was fastest qualifier Ryan Pinkerton who managed to finish in second place despite crashing halfway down the track. That'll likely be a raincheck for the speedy American as he clearly had the pace to dominate here this weekend. Chris Hauser was also up at the first split before a nasty crash took him out of the running completely (DNF) - we hope it's nothing too serious!
